For the last couple of weeks, Pegasus HQ has been hard at work supporting the launch of the UK’s very first Novalis Tx Radiosurgery cancer treatment system – due to start treating patients at Liverpool’s NHS Clatterbridge Cancer Centre this Monday.
The truly groundbreaking machine, co-developed by radiosurgery pioneers Brainlab and medical device manufacturer Varian Medical Systems, will enable doctors to treat patients with tumours virtually anywhere in the body, accurately and painlessly in just a single session. In some cases the procedure can last as little as 15 minutes.
News of the radiation therapy system couldn’t have come at a better time, following the Department of Health’s recent announcement about increased investment in advanced cancer treatments. The media has been receptive with coverage hits including The Daily Express, BBC News and Sky News, trade titles like the New Scientist and Health Service Journal as well as North West regional press and radio.
